THE local communities of Red Rock, Corindi Beach and holiday visitors in conjunction with Red Rock Bowling and Recreation Club joined together to conduct the Annual Irene Scott Memorial Family Fun Bowls Day recently to raise funds for Children With Cancer Research.
The previous year’s figures of $3960 was well beaten with $4426 raised in 2010 from green fees, spiders, raffles and competitions and a barbecue lunch.
The number of bowlers was down slightly this year due to one green being under renovation before the district pairs and pennants.
Secretary-manager Helen McAuliffe thanked all business firms and individuals that donated prizes for the day,
These came from Grafton, Halfway Creek, Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga, Corindi and Red Rock. Just about everyone went home happy with a prize.
Thanks was also extended to those who prepared, served the barbecue lunch and those who supplied ingredients for the lunch.
Helen also said she was amazed at the support showed, especially in light of previous successful bowls days for Movember Men’s Health, the staff Loud Shirt Day to support the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Rescue Service last Easter and looked forward to similar support this coming Easter Monday.
