Antique Fair stallholders come from far and wide

ANTIQUES and collectables from linen and china to toys, jewellery and furniture will be showcased at this weekend’s 13th annual Antique Fair hosted by the Coffs Harbour Quota Club.

This year 19 stallholders from as far away as South Australia and Victoria will pack the exhibition hall at the Coffs Harbour Showground with all manner of goodies.

Quota club member Dianne Eagan said the Coffs Harbour Antique Fair had developed a great reputation with stallholders and was considered an event “not to be missed”.

“The stallholders are looked after by Quota and they know it’s worth their while to travel to attend the fair,” Dianne said.

The Antique Fair is Quota’s major fundraiser alongside Craftarama, which was postponed this year.

“We hope to raise over $6000 to buy three Signature pumps for the children’s ward at the Coffs Harbour hospital,” Dianne said.

She said money was raised through the $5 entry fee and the friendly preview night where people could enjoy drinks and nibblies while taking in the antiques on offer.

A lucky door prize of a $50 voucher to spend at any of the stalls will be awarded on the night.

Gary Ward and Baden Lang from Coffs Harbour Antiques regularly support the Quota Antique Fair, which Gary said drew dealers from Tasmania and Melbourne.

“We go every year because it’s for a good cause and it’s a very popular event,” Gary said.

This year Coffs Harbour Antiques will take a variety of pieces to the fair, including a cedar extension table from the 1860s sourced in Tasmania, a set of six cedar chairs, showcases, a large cedar and blackwood bookcase and an assortment of sea chests and blanket boxes.

Gary said visitors to the Antique Fair could expect to see silver, jewellery, miniatures, china, linen and oriental glass and porcelain.

The Antique Fair runs from 9am-5pm on Saturday and from 10am-3pm on Sunday.

Quota International started in Coffs Harbour in 1962 as a group of women sharing friendship while raising money for projects and charities.

The long list of organisations and projects to benefit from Quota’s fundraising include Camp Quality, the Coffs Creek Walkway, the North Coast Academy of Sport, the Coffs Harbour Deaf Club and local women’s and youth refuges.

Tickets for the gala preview night are $25. For more information phone 6651 1806 or 6651 3835.
