BONVILLE Golf Resort has done it again, winning its fifth caterer of the year title in seven years at the annual Northern Region Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence announced on Monday.
It’s the resort’s 30th plate win, spanning northern region, state and national awards. Included in the accolades are two highly prestigious national awards for event caterer and wedding caterer of the year, a first for a Coffs Coast business.
Bonville now becomes a finalist in this year’s state awards to be announced in Sydney on September 8.
“The award is great recognition for the staff who put in 100 per cent effort week in week out for all catering events, including weddings, conferences and corporate dinners,” resort general manager Brad Daymond said.
“The event we were judged on was our third Legends Lunch held in April, but it seems a distant memory now as we are preparing for the fourth Legends Lunch on September 10.”
Former Wallabies captain John Eales will again act as the master of ceremonies for the September lunch, with guest speakers to include Olympic rowing legend James Tompkins, Beijing Olympic rowing gold and bronze medallist Ken Wallace and the Lithgow Flash, Marjorie Jackson.
Channel Seven personality Mark Beretta will again be at the lunch, which includes a three-course meal and beverage package.
Mr Daymond said it could be a big week for the resort, with the Legends Lunch just two days after the announcement of the state winners in the Restaurant and Catering Awards.
Several other Coffs Coast businesses were successful at the northern region awards on Monday.
Bellingen’s No.2 Oak Street won the Lower North Coast contemporary restaurant and restaurant of the year, The Tandoori Oven at Coffs Harbour Jetty was the best Indian restaurant and Fiasco Ristorante and Bar at the Jetty won the best Italian restaurant and comprehensive wine list.
“It was great to see these Coffs Coast restaurants win awards as we recommend many of our groups and visitors to these great restaurants to add to the Coffs Coast dining experience,” Mr Daymond said.
