Callaghan reunion celebrates 100 years in Coffs

19 Nov, 2009 12:14 PM
ONE hundred years ago the Callaghan family arrived in Coffs Harbour from Thomas Sutcliffe Mort’s Bodalla property.

The eldest daughter Mary Callaghan Spinks lived in Coramba Road, the youngest daughter Alma Callaghan Wills lived in Shephards Lane, their brother lived in the Orara.

These pioneers and their families contributed to the establishment of the Coffs Harbour district.

Evette Spinks Barwick has been recording the fascinating family stories for many years and has gathered treasured family memorabilia such as a very old christening gown.

For future generations, she has produced an illustrated book and electronic records.

Many descendants are expected to attend a gathering in Coffs Harbour on Saturday to contribute their stories.

Evette will welcome all interested people to the Village Centre Hall from 9.30am-3.30pm.
