Federal Shadow Minister to visit Coffs

03 Nov, 2009 08:05 AM
FEDERAL Shadow Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, Tony Abbott, will visit Coffs Harbour on Thursday.

President of the Liberal Party’s Coffs Harbour Branch, Jenny Farquhar, said Mr Abbott’s visit was an opportunity for the Shadow Minister to discuss the Labor Party’s failure to keep core promises.

“The Health system has not been taken over; Rudd the economic conservative turned out to be a con; the education revolution has turned into the Julia Gillard Memorial Hall program; progress has stalled on indigenous affairs and the state of the Murray Darling Basin; and Labor’s immigration policy is chaotic.

“It is important for senior political figures to visit the Coffs region to understand our challenges and opportunities.

“We will be taking the opportunity to talk to Tony about the impact of the high dollar on our tourism industry; the progress of the bypass; and the high cost of credit for small business.

“The Coffs region is changing and the Liberal Party will be an important political voice for the future.”

Mr Abbott will launch his book ‘Battlelines’ at the Zebra Motel, Pacific Highway, Coffs Harbour on Thursday at 6pm.

To RSVP phone Jenny Farquhar, 0417 279 209.
