MORE parking spaces are on their way with Park Beach Plaza announcing the first stage of the centre development is officially underway.
With the construction of a new bus interchange almost complete, management said the path is now clear to begin construction on a multi-storey undercover carpark.
The new structure will see 400 additional parking spaces for the centre, with at least 300 of these undercover.
Steve Gooley, general manager of the Bachrach Naumburger Group, who owns both Park Beach Plaza and Homebase, said the development will bring a considerable economic boost to the local economy, with a forecasted 300 jobs created during the construction period.
"The focus of the construction project will be in the corner of the northern carpark facing the Pacific Highway and while changes to parking will be kept to a minimum, there will be some alterations to lanes on the access road from Arthur Street across the front of the centre near Australia Post and the Commonwealth Bank," Mr Gooley said.
In addition to these major works the substantial refurbishment of Target continues in-centre.
This month work has moved to the front section of the store, with a new entry statement currently being reconfigured in the construction area.
Along with these major works, the amenities near Target are also receiving a major facelift, bringing these facilities in line with the standard that can now be found throughout the centre.
"The Bachrach Naumburger Group has a proud history of sustainable, responsible and high quality development in our local region.
We are very excited to be commencing construction next week providing you with an improved retail offer and an enh-anced shopping experience," Mr Gooley said.
