Pride of Workmanship Awards extended

03 Nov, 2011 12:00 AM
ORGANISERS of the Rotary Pride of Workmanship awards have extended the time for nominations to end of business next Friday, November 11.

The awards give recognition to everyday Coffs Coast employees who go above and beyond in their workplace, demonstrating outstanding work ethic and commitment to their job.

For the second year running, the Coffs Coast Independent will present the People's Choice Award, inviting readers to have their say on who should be voted the winner of the prestigious award.

Ann Gee from Daybreak Rotary Club said historically Rotarians have promoted the practice of high ethical standards as part of their commitment to vocational service, and that's what the awards were all about.

"Nominations are invited for people who display a sense of responsibility to do their job well, do it once and do it well," Mrs Gee said.

"It honours people with a high level of ethics in the workplace, people with exceptional work performance and an outstanding approach and commitment to his or her work.

"This can come from a volunteer, a nurse, an office worker or a boss - the awards are open to anyone who display these qualities."

Coffs Coast Independent general manager Craig Beattie said the newspaper was proud to come on board once again as major sponsor of the event.

"As a tourist destination and a regional city, it's critical we recognise and reward people in our community who go above and beyond to offer great service," Mr Beattie said.

"Pride of Workmanship gives valuable recognition to all nominees, but the People's Choice Award is a category that lets the public vote for the nominee they've experienced top service from."

Nominee entry forms for the 2011 Pride of Workmanship can be found at www.coffsharbourdaybreak.org with nominations now closing on Friday, November 11.

Watch out for our Thursday, November 17 edition for the announcement of all the nominees and a voting coupon to make your voice heard.

The winner of the People's Choice Award will be announced at the Pride of Workmanship dinner at C.ex Coffs on Wednesday, November 30.

Tickets to the event cost $55 and are available at C.ex Coffs.
