FOURTEEN fresh and eager Toormina High School students were last week inducted as prefects for 2009-10.
This vibrant prefect body was nominated and elected by fellow students, who saw the many positive qualities within these students.
It was from this prefect body that Rebecca Pryce and Brandon Sparke were elected as captains. Jack Gillingham and Laney Graham were elected as vice-captains.
The prefects’ two main areas of focus for 2009-10 are bridging the gap between the junior and senior years and having the school involved in school and community activities.
Rebecca said she was looking forward to working with such a great team.
“There is just so much input and ideas into what we want to do in our role as prefects, and I am very excited to put it all into place,’’ she said.
Brandon said: “We will aim to increase student involvement in school activities and to acknowledge those who portray a positive school attitude.
“Currently we are looking into volunteering in the local St Vincent De Paul Op Shops, and giving our time to various charitable organisations, such as Sawtell Lions Club, Sawtell Rotary, Zonta and Daybreak Rotary.
“We want our school to be recognised for the many great achievements that we make in our year.”
