THE second round of the Northern NSW State Cup, sponsored by Solo, will be played this week in all participating centres within Northern NSW (from Newcastle to the Queensland border).
The State Cup gives local club sides the opportunity to test themselves against clubs from other zones in Northern NSW. It’s a straight knockout competition with a first prize of $4000 cash, which is part of a $10,000 prize pool.
The competition has been split into northern and southern pools to make travel distances shorter in the earlier rounds.
The southern pool round two matches were played last night, with the northern pool matches, featuring North Coast Football clubs, will play this Saturday.
NCF teams will play at one of three venues:
Woolgoolga High street – 1pm: Woolgoolga FC v Macleay Valley Rangers FC; 3pm: Byron Bay Rams v Tamworth FC.
Maclean Showground – 1pm: Maclean FC v Port Utd; 3pm: Goonellabah FC v Club Taree Wildcats.
Toormina Oval –1pm: Sawtell FC v Oxley Vale Attunga; 3pm: Coffs City Utd v Pacific Palms FC.
The State Cup is a straight knockout competition with no second chances before rounds three and four whittle the teams down to quarter finalists, who will all share in the money.
The quarter finals and semi-finals will be played at BCU International Stadium on July 10-11. The final is scheduled for Saturday, August 7 at a venue to be determined.
