SAWTELL FC senior teams are coming off a disappointing weekend after five losses, one draw and a lone victory.
Sawtell’s first division men tried their best to get over the top of the Orara Valley Dingoes.
With the Dingoes playing a possession game, Sawtell was on the back foot for most of the game and eventually went down 3-1.
The Shearing Shed man of the match was Bill Huybregts.
The under-19s men had a lot of players unavailable, but still managed a close match.
At halftime they were down 2-0, but fought back to level 20 minutes before fulltime.
With five minutes remaining, Orara slipped one over the goalkeeper and won the game 3-2.
The Coopers Surf Australia man of the match was Robbie Folkes.
The third division men had a 1-all draw against the Dorrigo Highlanders and the second division men had a bye.
The first division women had a bad afternoon against Woolgoolga, losing 9-0, while the third division women lost 5-2.
Sawtell Spirits over-35s had another big win 9-1 over the Lions, while the Sawtell Scorpions over-35s lost 5-3 to the Tigers.
The first games this week for Sawtell FC will be on Friday night at BCU International Stadium at 8pm on IS2, with the Northside Health-sponsored Sawtell Spirits playing Sawtell Scorpions.
Also on Friday, the Sawtell Hotel-sponsored third division women play the Nambucca Heads Strikers on NH1 at 7pm.
On Saturday, Sawtell FC has five games at four different locations, starting with the Watson’s Caravans-sponsored third division men against the Northern Storm Thunder at 3pm on Y2 at York St.
At 3pm, the Optus sponsored second division men play Grafton City Rhinos on MKP1.
At the same time, the Unreal Estate-sponsored first division women head to Korora to play the Northern Storm Cyclones on K1 and with both of these sides coming into this game with big losses, both teams will be playing hard for a win.
At Toormina at 3pm, the Split Café-sponsored under-19s men play the Yamba Breakers on T1 and at 5pm the ABC Bricks-sponsored first division men, who are presently sitting last on the ladder, will go up against Yamba Breakers, just one place above the home side, on T1.
