LAST Saturday was a great night of football at the Toormina ovals for Sawtell FC.
Sawtell’s first division men played well against Coffs United, considering nearly half of the Scorpions regular team was missing.
They relied on the under-19s men to help out, taking a 4-0 loss which wasn’t a bad result in the circumstances.
With Yamba getting a draw last weekend and Sawtell yet to have a win, it places the Scorpions at the bottom of the table.
The Shearing Shed man of the match was Jake Glover.
The under-19s men’s game was a great match to watch and if Sawtell had a full squad they may have come away with a win, but the game ended in a 1-all draw.
The Coopers Surf Australia man of the match was Jake Reinhard, making some excellent saves as goalie.
The third division men had a 3-0 loss against the Boambee Bombers and the second division men, who had a lot of players unavailable, also had a loss 4-0 against the Westlawn Tigers.
The Eagle Boys man of the match was Robbie ‘Scartz’ Ciscato.
Sawtell’s first division women tried hard all afternoon, but went down 3-0 to Urunga. The Coffee Club player of the match was Natalie Stewart, who was incredible in goals.
The club’s third division women lost 6-0 and the over-35s men’s Sawtell Spirits had a big win 15-0 over the Northern Storm Lightning Bolts, while the over-35s Sawtell Scorpions lost 6-1 to Bellingen Blitz, but I understand one goal scored by Dr Alex was a cracker.
Sawtell FC first division men lost 6-2 and the under-19s men won 1-0 against the Woolgoolga Wolves last Wednesday week.
The first game this week for Sawtell FC will be on Thursday night at BCU International Stadium at 6.10pm on IS1, with Northside Health-sponsored over-35s Sawtell Spirits playing the Woolgoolga Dolphins.
On Friday night there will be two games, with the over-35s Sawtell Scorpions playing Woolgoolga Marlins at 6.10pm on IS1 and at Dorrigo at 7pm, the Sawtell Hotel-sponsored third division women play the Dorrigo Blue Gums on D1.
On Saturday, Sawtell FC has five games at the Toormina ovals, starting with the Watson’s Caravans-sponsored third division men against the Corindi Red Rock Breakers at 1pm on T4.
At 3pm, the Optus-sponsored second division men play Nambucca Heads Strikers on T4 and the Unreal Estate-sponsored first division women go up against Corindi on T1.
At 5pm, the MI Organics-sponsored under-19s men play Urunga Raiders under-19s on T1 and at 7pm the ABC Bricks-sponsored first division men go up against Urunga Raiders on T1.
