n SHOOTING
SSAA results:
SSAA members held a 40-shot 400-point event at the Coffs Harbour Pistol Club’s 50m range last Saturday, with Col Burnett winning the competition with an impressive score of 391/400.
Second place went to Kevin Rodgers with a good score of 389/400, while local shooting legend Harold Miller was not far away in third place with a score of 381/400 - not bad for a 79-year-old.
Other scores: Paul Streckfuss 371/400, Brian ‘Jacko’ Jackson 328/400, David McDonald 286/400, Bob Cameron 283/400. Junior: Lachlan McDonald 238/400.
Their was a mystery event where Paul Streckfuss managed to dredge up some ammo, which had a mind of its own. Apart from having a 50 per cent chance of even discharging, you would be lucky if it went where you were aiming. It was decided to abandon this event, but not after a fair bit of fun with this crazy ammo.
The final event was a two-team clay ball event won convincingly by the team of Bob Cameron, Col Burnett, Paul Streckfuss and Brian Jackson.
On Saturday morning there will be a lever action competition, which is open to anyone who owns a .22 rimfire lever action rifle. For the purists, open sights is the order of the day, but those shooters with scopes are most welcome to come and shoot.
This event will be held at the Coffs Harbour Pistol Club range at Karangi and will commence at 9am.
For more information phone Paul Streckfuss, 6653 4717.
