THE ladies foursomes’ Championship was held at Coffs Harbour Golf Club last week. This event has a very challenging format whereby players enter in pairs and have alternative hits off the tee over 27 holes.
One of the highlights of this year’s Championship was the number of mother and daughter teams. There were four overall. They were Hayley and Kerry Wilson, Emma and Gail de Groot, Kristy Hickey and Marg Spokes as well as Shireen and Jess Miller.
There were 94 starters over the field in two divisions. The winners and runners-up in division 1 were both mother and daughter teams. Gail and Emma de Groot finished as champions with a gross score of 128 and Hayley and Kerry Wilson came in second with 135 gross. The nett winners in this division were Eda Hilliar and Kay Gam with 106.5 nett score and runners-up were Suzanne McOrist and Trish Jackson with 115 nett score.
Division 2 winners were Helen Johnston and Chris Gardiner with a gross score of 155. Denise Kaiser and Fay Tolhurst were runners-up with a gross score of 159. Nett winners were Judy Westwood and Viv Gayford with 112 followed by Pauline Kent and Ruth Ryan with 115.
