THERE was a huge turnout for the annual opening day of the Coffs Harbour Golf Club ladies last Wednesday.
A field of 156 played a 4BBB stableford, with visitors from many district clubs including Bonville, Grafton, Nambucca Heads, Macksville, Woolgoolga and Sawtell.
Caba’s Drapery sponsored the day, providing great prizes for the winners.
First prize was awarded to Sandy Briggs and Sue Mealey with 47 point from runners-up Judy Gibson and Kay Gam on 45 points, Ruth McCarthy and Debbie France on 44 points, Penny Russell and Pauline Kent on 42 points (c/b), Gail de Groot and Ann Goodman 42 points, Greta Lindsay and Jo Schuhmann 40 points (c/b), and Anne Secomb and Di Boekenstein 40 points.
The visitors’ trophy went to Shirley Willis and Sally Welsh on 42 points.
A full and varied program of both individual and team events has been planned for the ladies this year.
The main day for ladies is Wednesday, but there is also a competition each Tuesday morning which is specifically geared for beginners.
Once a month, on a Friday, the club hosts its Ladybird day, which is an open day for all ladies in the district.
