Mitch McComas, runner-up in last month’s North Coast Open junior tournament on his home course, was a standout in his team’s 4/1 win over Woolgoolga in the final.

McComas completed his game in quick time, downing Gary Bolton 6/5.

Clubmate Nathan Wood beat reigning North Coast Open champion Grant Skinner, while Brandon Connor and Dan Swain were Coffs Harbour’s other winners.

Woolgoolga’s lone victor was current Mid North Coast champion of champions Logan Toms, who proved too good for Dylan Stollery.

The Coffs Harbour club had cause for a double celebration, beating Woolgoolga to claim the division two pennant.

Woolgoolga was successful in the division three decider, but found South West Rocks too strong in the division four final.

Macksville won the division six pennant, a competition for the nine-hole clubs. The result of the division five final has yet to be determined.

It was a busy weekend for pennant players, with the postponed final round being held on Saturday before the finals at Grafton the next day.

Association secretary David Rushworth said while some of the holes on the Grafton back nine were still “very wet”, the course was still in better shape than some of its Coffs Coast counterparts after the recent wet weather.
