SAWTELL-BASED Baylis Tennis Academy is celebrating the latest Australian rankings, with four men and three women inside the top 1000.
In all, the academy has 17 players with rankings following the release of the Australian rankings in May.
University student Adam Berrada is the highest ranked at 448.
The 21-year-old, who is currently studying in Lismore, has jumped 176 places since the April ranking. He has been a major part of the Baylis academy since he was 12.
Head coach Eli Baylis, 28, also saw his ranking jump 137 places to 535.
Jarred Hall, 16, is placed at 746, despite being out for much of the past eight months with a back injury.
Baylis believes Hall can make a speedy charge up the rankings when he returns as he has no points to defend in the period he has been away from the game.
“Jarred is one of the most natural talented players I have worked with and can make it as high as he wants in the Australian rankings, possibly even into the top 100,” Baylis said.
Matt Allen, 16, has jumped a massive 371 places to 991, his first time inside the top 1000.
Allen had set his sights to be inside the top 1000 by the end of the year, with he and Baylis will have to re-look at goals for the remainder of 2010.
Rhys Johnston, 14, is just outside the top 1000 at 1187, but still up 668 places.
He achieved some great results in April and May in singles and doubles.
Johnstone partnered with fellow Sawtell player Brodie Wood to take out many doubles matches, making the semi-finals or better in the last 4 National Points Tournaments.
Wood was one of the biggest movers in the rankings, jumping 831 places in one month to 1423.
Alex Studley tops the women’s rankings at 897 ahead of Kelly Armstrong at 999 and Christie Haisman at 1506.
