In a major coup for regional tennis in Australia, world professional tennis coach Bob Brett has agreed to assist a select group of our elite regional juniors with their tennis development.
Mr Brett will assist the new international tennis academy planned for Coffs Harbour by providing training for the academy’s full-time coaches and by allowing small supervised groups of juniors to his professional
tennis academy in Italy.
Coffs Harbour businessman Todd Hunter recently visited fellow Australian Bob Brett at his professional tennis academy in San Remo, Italy.
The two Australians had previously been in discussions regarding helping elite regional Australian junior tennis players maximise their potential and to establish a future relationship between those players based in regional Australia and the world acclaimed Bob Brett Tennis Academy in Italy.
Many of Australia’s previous tennis champions hailed from ‘ the bush’ being the regional areas throughout Australia.
Throughout the past 20 years, Australia has seen a number of tennis champions hail from regional areas, but that number is slowly decreasing.
Mr Hunter wants to help in reversing that decline by assisting elite junior tennis players from regional Australia.
Bob Brett currently coaches Marin Cilic (ranked 11 in the world/semi-finalist Australian Open 2010) and has previously coached many of the tennis greats.
